But first things first, have you lit your fireplace or your wood burner? Keep that sniffle away with the perfect Hot Toddy (Apple Variation)

It’s the old classic hot cocktail which also has that feel-good factor, and we have added apple juice this time, so it’s definitely good for you too!

Ingredients

0.5 l apple cider or apple juice

3 tbsp runny honey

4 cinnamon sticks, plus more to garnish

2 tsp whole cloves

0.275 ml of whisky

3 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

Apple slices, to garnish

Instructions

In a small saucepan, combine the apple cider, honey, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Bring to a boil, then remove from the heat and steep, covered, for 15 minutes. Strain out the solids, then stir in the whiskey and lemon juice. Divide among mugs and garnish each mug with an apple slice and a cinnamon stick. This winter drink recipe should get you six servings. 

This one’s for the sweet lovers: Sailor Jerry and Hot Chocolate

Follow this variation of the classic winter drink recipe of Hot Chocolate. Sailor Jerry Hot Chocolate is a great winter drink to be enjoyed by a fire telling stories or playing charades. It looks sophisticated yet is very easy to make and is a simply perfect winter warmer. Quickly check if you need to top up your fireplace with more wood fuels, throw in one or two Lekto Sawdust Briquettes, and you are ready for the next round of parlour games!

Ingredients

  • 25 ml Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
  • 25 ml Butterscotch Schnapps ( leave it out if you are not into sweets)
  • 100 ml hot chocolate

Instructions

Add equal parts liquor to hot chocolate, top with whipped cream, shaved chocolate, and garnish with a cinnamon stick or candy cane.

Alcohol-Free Mulled’ Wine’ Hot Cocktail 

This is a great opportunity to make a winter warmer with your kids as they can assist you with this alcohol-free version of one of the most famous winter drinks. 

As it’s such delicious adults are allowed to enjoy it too. This alcohol-free mulled wine recipe is created using grape juice, oranges and lemons and allspice mix that simmer into a hot Christmas drink which will warm you from the inside out.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 l grape Juice 
  • 2-3 oranges
  • 1 lemon
  • 3-5 cinnamon sticks 
  • 2 star anise
  • 10 cloves 

Pro Tip: 

Winter drinks usually can’t be made in bathes, but this is an exception. You can batch make this at the start of your day, and it will fulfil your home with that special festive smell if you are going to have more people or want to get everting ready before the guest arrive double or triple the recipe and warm it up again later.

If it’s too sweet ad a splash of pomegranate juice to give a more rounded flavour. 

Instructions

In a large saucepan, warm grape juice with sliced oranges, lemon, star anise and cinnamon sticks for 15 minutes or until ready to serve.
